The Bay Area Place Plan

The Bay Area Place Plan will direct the long term future for the south east part of the Isle of Wight. It is being developed by a collaboration of three creative practices – Feria Urbanism, Støriie (Laura Mulhern) and The Place Bureau on behalf of the town and parish councils for Lake, Sandown and Shanklin and the Isle of Wight Council.
In July 2023, we organised and ran a pivotal three-day event called the Bay Area Think Space that put local people at the forefront of change. The event allowed an exploration innovative solutions and the sharing of insights to help shape a future that embraces sustainability, inclusivity, and smart growth. It was a unique opportunity for local people to co-create the place plan and have a real impact. We value all perspectives, experiences, and aspirations. Together, we started to build a community that reflects the needs and dreams of every resident.
