We share knowledge that helps communities, councils and professionals shape better places with confidence.
Feria Urbanism runs talks, workshops and training sessions for councils, universities and community groups. We demystify planning, share creative engagement techniques and explore the future of placemaking. Whether it’s a oneoff session or part of a wider learning programme, we help people gain the understanding and tools they need to lead change.
1. Primary and secondary schools
We bring urban design to life for children and young people. In Waterlooville, we worked with 185 pupils across three primary schools, a secondary school and a sixth form college. Through hands-on activities, they explored their town’s history and possible futures — building curiosity and practical design skills along the way.

2. Youth engagement programmes
Our programmes for young people combine learning, creativity and civic awareness. At St Peter’s School in Bournemouth, pupils explored over a century of placemaking using historic archives. They then developed ideas for the town’s future, presenting final designs to a panel of experts. This six-week project formed part of their GCSE geography course.

3. University teaching
We have delivered lectures, modules and workshops at several leading universities, supporting students in urban design, planning and placemaking. These sessions mix theory and practice, showing how to connect community voices with spatial strategies. Students leave with a clearer understanding of how to balance creativity, policy and real-world delivery in their future careers.

4. Professional training
We offer bespoke training for local authority officers, councillors and neighbourhood planning groups. Sessions can cover policy frameworks, community engagement methods or urban design principles, always tailored to real challenges. By building shared understanding and clear next steps, we help decision-makers and community leaders work together more effectively to shape positive change in their area.
