Climate change
Feria Urbanism is a small practice of four people, and we make our biggest climate contribution through the content of our work rather than through a formal environmental management system. Every neighbourhood plan, design code and masterplan we produce embeds compact, walkable urban form, reduced car dependency and the reuse of existing buildings over new build where possible.
In Watchet we tested a car park closure to trial a greener, more biodiverse public realm in real conditions. In Totton and at Loddon Valley Garden Village our work has placed green infrastructure, shading and flood resilient design at the centre of the brief. As a practice, we keep our own footprint modest by working digitally wherever possible, minimising unnecessary travel, and choosing low carbon delivery methods for events and exhibitions.
Equality, diversity and inclusion
EDI is built into how our four person team works and into the engagement methods we design. Our team is gender diverse and spans early career and highly experienced practitioners, interdisciplinary by design across planning, urban design, graphic communication and project delivery.
In our engagement practice, representative recruitment, plain language, and a deliberate mix of digital, analogue, visual and in person formats are used specifically to reach people who would not otherwise take part, including those less confident with planning processes. Within the practice itself, flexible working and regular check ins support the wellbeing of a small team working across a wide range of projects.
