Well, we didn’t win but it was a great evening in London last night catching up with a talented team. Thanks to James Gross and Tina Spires of Urban Place Lab for the invitation and to everybody for their good company, including Adrian Ellis of East Hampshire District Council, Roger Shipton of Avison Young and James Child of the Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company. Here’s to more successful projects together in the future.
The Whitehill & Bordon Structuring Plan was shortlisted in the category of planning for increased housing delivery at this year’s awards. Since 2014, both Urban Place Lab and Avison Young have been collaborating with landowners the DIO and development managers at the Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company, a joint venture between Taylor Wimpey and Dorchester Regeneration, on this multi-faceted community regeneration. The Structuring Plan was developed in close collaboration with East Hampshire District Council, with Feria Urbanism acting as urban design advisors to the council, also in place over the last decade.
Loosely following the German Bebauungsplan (B-Plan) model of a technical parameter-led master plan and regulating plan and associated text document, the process has encouraged a more organic evolution of place, learning by doing and providing valuable exercises in collaboration and place making.
Congratulations to Inner Circle Consulting and James Masini who were the winners in our category. Well done to all the other category winners and the commended projects too. It was good to take time out to celebrate, reflect and to see what else is happening out there.
