Weymouth & Portland Borough Council appointed Feria Urbanism to assist them in the preparation of a master plan for Weymouth town centre.
Our team designed, organised and ran a series of public consultation and engagement events to inform the plan, running two public workshops in autumn 2014 to test concepts that included new land use patterns, pedestrian walking circuits, public realm interventions and new character areas. The results were recorded and interpreted by our team and then used to inform a recommendations report.
Our report sets out a series of key projects that will help bring in new investment to the town that will ensure a better quality urban experience, to be equivalent to the existing high-quality marine and coastal experiences.
In 2010, we completed a study on the night time economy of Weymouth and these recommendations had a direct bearing on the direction of the town centre redevelopment, leading to the production of the 2014 master plan.
