Milborne St Andrew Neighbourhood Plan

Neighbourhoods & Districts

We supported Milborne St Andrew in the early phases of their neighbourhood plan preparation. We organised and ran a “PLACE assessment” day for the steering group to help them analyse and record the qualities and characteristics of their village. This assessment became a key part of the evidence base for the final plan that has now passed referendum.

Milborne St Andrew is a village and civil parish in the county of Dorset. It is sited in a winterbourne valley on the dip slope of the Dorset Downs, on the A354 road, around 14 km northeast of the county town Dorchester. It lies in the North Dorset administrative district. In the 2011 census the parish had 472 dwellings, 453 households and a population of 1,062. Thomas Hardy described Milborne St Andrew as “Millpond St Jude’s” in his novel Far from The Madding Crowd.

The final plan was approved at referendum in August 2019 with a 91% yes vote on a turnout of 35%.
