Milborne St Andrew Neighbourhood Plan

Client: Milborne St Andrew Parish Council
Location: Milborne St Andrew, Dorset
Year: 2016

Feria Urbanism supported Milborne St Andrew in the early phases of its neighbourhood plan preparation, organising and running a “PLACE assessment” day for the steering group — helping them analyse and record the qualities and characteristics of their village.

Milborne St Andrew is a village and civil parish in Dorset, set within a winterbourne valley on the dip slope of the Dorset Downs. Located on the A354, it lies about 14 kilometres northeast of Dorchester, within the North Dorset administrative district.

At the 2011 census, the parish recorded 472 dwellings, 453 households, and a population of 1,062. In Far from the Madding Crowd, Thomas Hardy’s Millpond St Jude’s was inspired by Milborne St Andrew

Our assessment became a key part of the evidence base for the final plan, which was approved at referendum in August 2019 with a 91% yes vote on a turnout of 35%.
