Liverpool After Dark
Client: | Liverpool City Council |
Location: | Liverpool, Lancashire |
Year: | 2010 |

We worked with a range of partners across Liverpool to develop design frameworks for the Victoria Street area and the RopeWalks to help design out crime after dark. These two areas are the engines of the city’s vibrant night life and have played a significant role in the cultural and economic renaissance of the city. Our team conducted design audits, organised, and led participatory workshops and advised on design interventions. Our report also recommended a more detailed study into the future of the Stanley Street quarter, the home of many businesses that cater for the city’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGB&T) communities.
We were commissioned to produce this more detailed work for Stanley Street. Our advice included proposed interventions to the streets, spaces and buildings, changes to land use planning and new ideas for branding and promotion. Many of our recommendations were quickly implemented, included the first rainbow-branded street signs in the UK.
