Working with Dacorum Borough Council, Feria Urbanism organised and facilitated an interactive all-day workshop event — to initiate the Hemel Hempstead Transformational Plan (HHTP) and begin the engagement process necessary to develop the plan.
The HHTP is designed to identify a strategy and interventions to facilitate the integration of Hemel Garden Communities (HGC) with Hemel Hempstead and the surrounding area, enabling both existing and future residents to benefit from the opportunities arising from growth. The proposal is for a mixed-use residential and commercial development that could deliver around 10,000 homes and 10,000 jobs.
Using a thematic approach, the HHTP aims to be holistic and aspirational in identifying improvements which will make Hemel Hempstead a better place to live, work and visit. This could include delivery of new infrastructure which is over and above the current policy standards, improving existing low-quality infrastructure, or redesigning neighbourhood facilities to improve connectivity and cohesion between new and existing communities.
