Faversham Creek Neighbourhood Plan

Client: Swale Borough Council
Location: Faversham, Kent
Year: 2014

Faversham Town Council appointed Feria Urbanism to refine its draft neighbourhood plan in response to pre-submission consultation feedback —and produce a series of diagrams and design principle sketches to help illustrate and bring the policy text to life.

The plan focuses on the area around Faversham’s inland creek and aims to create a sustainable mix of residential, leisure and light industrial uses, with a strong emphasis on maritime trades.

The examiner’s report considered the submitted neighbourhood plan to have a “clear structure, being sensibly divided into seven appropriate sections”. The examiner commended the plan for being “well written, logical, clear, appropriately concise and intelligible to a reasonably intelligent lay reader with no expertise in town and country planning”.

The final plan was approved at referendum in May 2017 with an 88% yes vote on a turnout of 42%.
