Bridport Neighbourhood Plan
Client: | Bridport Town Council |
Location: | Bridport, Dorset |
Year: | 2018 |
Bridport Town Council appointed Feria Urbanism to work with a collective of six parishes to develop a neighbourhood plan for pre-submission consultation. The Bridport Area Neighbourhood Plan comprises the six parishes of Allington, Bradpole, Bothenhampton, Bridport, Symondsbury and Walditch. Work on the plan began in November 2014 when many members of the public attended at event in Bridport Town Hall to say what aspects of future development were most important to them. This led to a series of consultations over the following years which gave the Steering Group a good idea of peoples’ wishes on a range of subjects.
Our role was to take the extensive amount of material already prepared by the community and rework into a neighbourhood plan of an appropriate format and with the right content. This was then subject to pre-submission consultation in summer 2018.
Our team was also commissioned to prepare specific housing design guidance and shop front design guidance for Bridport town centre. These design outputs were integrated into the neighbourhood plan.
The final plan was approved at referendum in February 2020 with an 87% yes vote on a turnout of 18%.
