Feria Urbanism worked with the Civic Trust and the London Borough of Bexley to produce a pioneering after dark strategy for Bexleyheath in London. Bexleyheath was selected as one of the eight NightVision pilot projects, a programme created by the Civic Trust to improve the diversity and quality of the evening and night time economy in town and city centres. Following discussions with the London Borough of Bexley it was agreed that a NightVision pilot project would produce a comprehensive action plan for the improvement of the town centre at night.
The final Bexleyheath NightVision report was used to inform the emerging strategy for Bexleyheath town centre within the Local Development Framework. Relevant actions were considered in the light of the then emerging Bexleyheath Development and Improvement Framework to ensure consistency with that study. Our final NightVision report also identified key areas of change that would benefit the town centre over a 24 hour cycle and this aspect was instrumental in securing a £4.13m public realm delivery fund from Transport for London. Many of our suggested changes have since been implemented.
