Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council appointed Feria Urbanism to prepare an urban design framework for the town and its surroundings.

The purpose of the project was to carry out a contextual survey and analysis of Basingstoke, and to provide design guidance to inform the Local Plan update.

The study formed an important part of the assessment of sites under consideration for housing and employment land allocations within the Local Plan.

We also reviewed existing design policies and advised on their update to support higher-density development across the town — both within potential new expansion areas and through the intensification of existing neighbourhoods.
